Stand with Israel

A powerful message on March 29th by Jim Waters, encouraged everyone to take a stand to support Israel.  The following are some web sites that have petitions to sign to help let our leaders know that we want them to support Israel:

Four Blood Moons - Brock and Bodie Thoene

The following is a blog from Brock and Bodie Thoene's website :
April 15, 2014
Brock and Bodie Thoene

The very next full moon of this year…this year’s Passover moon, in fact…will present the first of a series of four lunar eclipses in the next 18 months. Coming at six month intervals, this unique procession in the heavens falls now, then in October, 2014, April, 2015 and late September, 2015. A sequence of four related lunar eclipses is called a Tetrad.

The term ‘blood moon’ relates to the fact that many lunar eclipses are colored from pale red to dusky red to crimson at full eclipse. The phrase is something of a misnomer, since not all eclipses of the moon show much color at all. In any case, the phrase ‘blood moon’ has come to be applied to all lunar eclipses, even though we can’t say how ‘red’ it will be until it arrives.
The scriptural basis for expecting significance in lunar eclipses is found in  Joel’s prophecy about the end times, recorded in Joel 2:31 (and quoted by Peter in Acts 2:20) “The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon will be turned to blood before that great and terrible Day of the Lord arrives.”
This is a good place for us to stop and remind you that when we write about signs in the heavens, we are NOT practicing astrology. We do, however, fully believe Genesis 1:14-19 in which God says that the lights in the sky are for, ‘signs, seasons, days and years.’ We also believe and rely on the words of Psalm 19:1-2 “The heavens tell the glory of God. The skies display His marvelous craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak. Night after night they make Him known.”

It should be pointed out that lunar eclipses are not rare. They occur whenever the shadow of the earth intersects the path of the moon through the sky (Remembering that the moon and the earth are about a quarter of a million miles apart, which is why eclipses don’t happen every month)

Nor is the occurrence of eclipses of the moon coming in pairs all that unusual. You can think of the path of the moon as a dividing line in the sky. The earth’s shadow falls sometimes above it and sometimes below it. Pictured in that way it’s easy to see that eclipses should happen in pairs…once on the ‘upswing’ and again on the ‘downswing.’

What increases the significance of the series of celestial events beginning this April 15th is that there are FOUR of them, following each other at six month intervals. What’s more, notice that they all occur on pairs of Jewish religious holidays: Passover, Tabernacles, Passover again and Tabernacles again.

Such a grand parade of heavenly signs has happened before, and tetrads are often associated with important events: the expulsion of the Jews from Spain and Columbus’ voyages to the New World, the miraculous rebirth of Israel, and the Jewish recapture of the Temple Mount and east Jerusalem.  ALL of them have extraordinary significance to God’s Original Chosen People.

Enough has been written about those connections, particularly by our good friend, Messianic Pastor Mark Biltz, that we will not explore them again here. We do suggest that you view a whole series of YouTube videos by Mark, and check out his book: Blood Moons—Decoding the Imminent Heavenly Signs.

What we want to delve into are the OTHER sights in the sky at the time of this eclipse. The moon…regarded by Jews as the emblem of the Holy Spirit…will be directly between the constellations of the Virgin and the Scales (or Balances) on the night of the eclipse.

What’s more, it won’t be alone. The light of a full moon washes out the other sights in the heavens. But during an eclipse other heavenly lights again become visible.

That’s especially significant this time.  Mars (known as ‘the Adam’ or ‘the Son of Man’ to Hebrew speakers) will be near the heart of the Virgin. In fact it’s very near the star named Porrima…the Atonement Star…exactly where it was over 2000 years ago, on the night we believe the Angel Gabriel announced Jesus’ conception to His mother.

But that’s not all. On the other side of the moon, deep in the center of the Scales, is Saturn…Shabbatai…the Lord of the Sabbath.
The Holy Spirit moon appearing between Mars and Saturn reminds us that though Jesus was the God-Man, He performed His miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is the same Holy Spirit that comes to us as believers, enabling us to do the works of Jesus.
There’s also this connection: When challenged by the Pharisees about breaking the strict observance of the Sabbath rules Jesus replied, “For I, the Son of Man, am master even of the Sabbath.” (Matthew 12:8)  In other words, having Mars and Saturn appear in the sky should remind us that The Son of Man (Jesus) is Lord of the Sabbath (the Christ)
This arrangement of planets and constellations should also put you in mind of several other Biblical references. For instance: At Belshazzar’s feast, Daniel interpreted part of the supernatural handwriting in the Babylonian palace to mean, “You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting.”(Daniel 5:27)  When any man’s sins and failures and shortcomings are laid on one side of the pan balance, there is NO sacrifice big enough to even the score, except when the Lord of the Sabbath put His own life on the scale.

Now let’s see if we can put it all together: The Son of God came to earth as a Man, but born of a Virgin. We see the reminder of this fact in the heavens. We also see that He will come again to judge the living and the dead. He will weigh up any good, any righteousness that a man can claim for himself. Of course, ‘all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.’ It’s only by the intervention of the Lord Himself, the Lord of the Sabbath, that any of us will be saved.

And what about the moon being turned to blood?  Very simply put, it’s a reminder that however long the Lord tarries before the judgment…the delay will not last forever! In this present age, we have the light of the Holy Spirit to point all the lost toward a relationship with Jesus. But soon the returning Lord of the Sabbath will demand an accounting from each and every one of us. When the moon’s light is darkened, the reality of the return of the Son of Man as the Lord of the Sabbath is revealed. That reminder is exactly why the sky on this April 15th was created and ordained from the beginning of time. To whom among your friends and family have you resisted speaking of your faith? What are you waiting for?

Blessings in the Name of Jesus the Messiah,

Bodie and Brock

What is America doing to stand against Christian persecution?

There was  a congressional hearing on Feb 11, this year, concerning Christian persecution.  The hearing was chaired by U.S. Rep, Chris Smith, R-NJ. The House subcommittee on global human rights listened to international experts testify about the rise in Christian persecution throughout the world.  The Vatican's apostolic nuncio, Archbishop Francis A. Chullikatt, to the United Nations was one who testified. He told about how Christians in Iraq are being caught in the crossfire of the conflict there. He denounced the emerging tradition of bombing Catholic and other Christian churches on Christmas Eve. He told how devastating the persecution is toward children and quoted the Pew Forum that found Christians suffered some form of harassment in 139 countries between 2006 and 2010, the largest of any other group. John Allen, associate editor of The Boston Globe, stated, when Western governments such as the United States defend persecuted Christians internationally, their voice carries weight. Elliott Abrams of the U.S. Commission on international Religious Freedom, said  the U.S. government needs to say that "we care, and this will affect our relations".  He also stated that the U.S. should enforce economic and trade sanctions against countries that persecute religious minorities.

In March of 2013, Senator Roy Blunt (R-Mo) reintroduced the Near East and South Central Asia Religious Freedom Act(S. 653).  This bill would establish an envoy to promote the right of religious freedom of religious minorities  in the Near East and South Central Asia and report the current status of religious freedom in each country of those regions. It also calls for the envoy to "denounce the violation of such right and recommend appropriate responses by the United States government when such right is violated."

As reported by the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on December 18, 2013

S. 653 would authorize the appropriation of $1 million each year over the 2013-2017 period for the President to appoint a Special Envoy within the Department of State.

With a million dollars to get the envoy appointed, seems like it should be done promptly.

This bill closely aligns with the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 as well as the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom Reform and Reauthorization Act (P.L. 112-75), passed in the House in 2011.  The bill  also passed in the Senate and was signed into law by President Obama. The ambassadorship is the key position in the United States on religious freedom, and the seat has been vacant since last October. A continued vacancy in this position surely sends a message of apathy toward persecuted Christians across the world.

It seems, we have no lack of legislation to protect Christians from persecution, but where is the enforcement or even the appointment of positions to cause the legislation to have some influence in helping  protect our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ?

Common Sense Has Left the Building

In an article by Elwood McQuaid in the Jan/Feb 2014 edition of Israel My Glory, he states:

"When 5-year-olds are expelled from class for pointing, school bus drivers refuse to intercede while teenagers pummel and bully children, and the Pledge of Allegiance and patriotic assemblies are banished from schools, it's time to ask, 'Whatever happened to common sense?'

The answer is political correctness.  Imposed by forces totally out of step with America's traditions, political correctness has emerged as the promised 'transformation' of the nation.

A revolution is raging.  What was revered historically as common sense is gone, and there is a reason why.  America's social awareness and rules of conduct were based on the Christian values the Founding Fathers wove into the fabric of the republic.  The Ten Commandments, truth, respect for others, and a love of God and country undergirded the governing system that rose among the nations as a spectacular exception to the oppresive cultures immigrants fled, to breathe the free air of America, the land of endless opportunity.

Today most Americans share a nearly universal lack of awareness concerning the seriousness and consequences of the atttacks on their country's way of life.  Some, however, have connected the dots and are demonstrating the courage to say so...........

When a society abandons the moral, spiritual, and intellectual standards instilled through divine authority, it forfits its common sense as well.  Allowing every person to concoct his or her own standards, using self as the supreme relevant factor, is a perscription for disaster.

Thankfully, that isn't the way the world was designed to work.  And for that reason, Jesus has promised to return and set things right.  How do we know?  It's  in the Bible,  And that is the only Book with standards that will endure forever."

"Whatever happened to common sense?"

Why the Muslim Brotherhood targets Christians

Posted in Christian Persecution, Christian Persecution - Africa, Egypt, by Joseph DeCaro

Cairo, Egypt (Worthy News) -- A pogrom against Christians is in keeping with the Muslim Brotherhood's supremacist ideology, but according to PJ Media's Andrew McCarthy, that porgom says more about Egypt than the Brotherhood because this muderous Muslim movement came out of Egypt's own Islamist culture.

"The brothers are an effect, not a cause," concluded McCarthy.

McCarthy points to polling showing that only 26 percent of Egyptians supported the military's coup of Muhammad Morsi while 63 percent were against it; this was the same majority that cheered radical Sheikh Qaradawi in Tahrir Square just one week after President Mubarak's ouster.

"In his sermon, Qaradawi celebrated the revolution as Allah's victory and heralded it as a divine omen for 'our brothers in Palestine,"' said McCarthy. "Just as Allah had provided 'victory in Egypt,' so too would there soon be a 'conquest of the al-Aqsa Mosque' in Jerusalem"

As if on cue, attacks against Coptic Christians became more violent: On New Year's eve, a church in Alexandria was bombed, killing 23; in May, jihadists razed the Virgin Mary Church in Cairo and attacked a residential complex, killing 12 and wounding more than 200, and in October, thousands of Muslims destroyed the St, George Coptic church in Edfu.

In response, Cairo's Copts marched in protest to a media center in Maspero, but their demonstration became amassacre as Egyptian soldiers ran them over with armored personnel carriers, killing dozens while wounding hundreds more.

"We can only hope," said McCarthy, "that enough international pressure can be brought to bear that the Egyptian armed forces will be moved to stop ongoing brutalization of Christians.
